Estimados padres de Washburn School de 7mo a 12mo grado:
Esperamos que todos se encuentren bien a pesar de toda esta situación que estamos pasando. El colegio contaba parcialmente con el servicio de luz por 24 horas entre sábado y domingo. Sin embargo, en el día de ayer hubo una situación en nuestra región donde explotó un transformador y hubo otro apagón por un relevo de carga debido a sobreuso en San Juan. Esto ha provocado que no contemos con el servicio de electricidad. Nuestro comedor y áreas esenciales cuentan con planta eléctrica por lo tanto el comedor escolar estará abierto. Nuestro colegio también tiene servicio de agua y cuenta con cisterna de emergencia, pero solo duran parte del día de irse el servicio de agua.
Para dar comienzo a nuestros servicios educativos, se hará de manera escalonada. Comenzaremos este miércoles, 28 de septiembre con los grados 7mo a 12mo. Los estudiantes tendrán almuerzo en el colegio. El horario de clases será de 7:30 de la mañana hasta la 1:00 p.m. Deberán ser puntuales en la mañana debido a que la primera clase comenzará a las 7:30 en punto.
A continuación, algunas directrices especiales para esta semana:
- La entrada y la salida de los estudiantes será por la carretera 14.
- Los estudiantes vendrán con la camisa de educación física, mahón, o pantalón corto estilo bermuda encima de la rodilla y tenis.
- Los estudiantes deberán traer suficiente agua para tomar y un abanico portátil pequeño para uso personal.
- El uso de la mascarilla (face masks) será opcional y a discreción del estudiante. Es importante que cada uno salvaguarde su seguridad.
Dependiendo de cómo resulte durante estos días la logística de las clases en estos grados, iremos incorporando otros grupos. De tener dudas o preguntas, favor de comunicarse a 787-637-2449.

Dear Washburn School Parents of Grades 7-12:
We hope everyone is well despite all this situation we are going through regarding Hurricane Fiona and the eight days without power or full water service on the island. The school had electricity service for 24 hours between Saturday and Sunday. However, yesterday there was a situation in our region where a transformer exploded, and there was another blackout due to a load relay based on overuse in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This has caused us to lose power service again. Our lunchroom and essential areas have a power generator; therefore, the school cafeteria will be open. Our school also has water service and an emergency cistern, but the water service only lasts for part of the day.
We will start our educational services on a staggered schedule for our enrollment. We will begin this Wednesday, September 28th, with 7th-12th grade. Students will have lunch at school. The class schedule will be from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm, including the lunch period. All students must be on time because the first class will start at 7:30 am sharp.
Here are some special guidelines for this week:
- The entrance and exit of the students will be through road #14 and not through the usual entrance for middle and high school.
- Students can wear their PE shirt, jeans, or bermuda-style shorts on the knee, and tennis shoes.
- Students should bring drinking water and a small portable fan for personal use if available.
- The use of face masks will be optional and at the student's discretion. We recommend that everyone should keep safe.
Depending on how the logistics of classes in these grades turn out during these days, we will incorporate other groups. If you have doubts or questions, please contact 787-637-2449.
